The Taos, New Mexico, region has been hit hard by the 341,000-acre Calf Canyon-Hermits Peak Fire — the largest wildfire in New Mexico history.

With thousands of people displaced and hundreds of buildings harmed or destroyed, the Taos Community Foundation launched an Emergency Action Fund to help those affected by the wildfires, and The Taos Ski Valley Foundation, the local affiliate of The Moore Charitable Foundation, supported the Fund with a leadership donation.

“The Taos Ski Valley Foundation is proud to support our neighbors who are battling the impacts of wildfires through the Taos Community Foundation’s Emergency Action Fund,” said Louis Bacon, founder of The Taos Ski Valley Foundation and owner of Taos Ski Valley. “We hope that our donation will inspire others to support these heroic efforts.”

Managing forest health is critical to preventing future catastrophic wildfires, and The Taos Ski Valley Foundation supports organizations dedicated to conservation and healthy forests in the Taos region, including the Rio Grande Water Fund, Taos Land Trust, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, and Forest Stewards Guild.
